Perhaps it is harder for lesbians to form relationships through the usual dating apps such as Tinder, Badoo and so on because it is not catered for them. Gays have Grindr which was launched in 2009 and has more than 5 million active users. Lesbian dating apps on the hand may be lacking because once users find it inactive or if it has many glitches, they would simply leave the app. However, there are some apps which targets LGBT women specifically and it may grow bigger in time.
- Her
Her is the leading lesbian app and they branded themselves that way. One of the advantages of Her is that it gives you a lot more depth about the user through their profile details. You may use this app to date, form friendships, for chatting or use their newsfeed to tell you the events that will take place as well as other news such as new gay movie.
- Moovz
Moovz functions as the LGBTQ Twitter. You can follow other users and talk to them. It has a GPS function in it and will show how far apart you are from the other user. You can use it as a safe haven for you to post images of you and your beloved one if you are still not out of the closet. Some famous YouTubers such as Arielle uses this app and you can see a blue tick beside her name to show that she is verified.
- POF
Plenty of Fish (POF) is the cleverly named app that uses the term ‘fishing’. Unlike Moovz and Her, POF is more into the ‘traditional’ dating app which require users to fill in questions to complete their profiles. On the home version there are 9 icons which are Messages, Ultra Match, Search, Locals, My Matches, Viewed Me, Meet Me, Profile and Favorites. It tracks down users through their location and you can either choose to match with them or not.
- Rela
As most of the above apps are developed and targets the Western societies, Rela is catered to the Asian demographics. It is one of the biggest app for lesbians and the interface is quite user friendly. If your type are Asians, this is most certainly the app for you. In order to sign up, you would have to input your phone number and change or add the country code. A few minutes you will have the code and simply key it in. You get to edit your profile, chat with other strangers and like their profiles. In app purchases are available for further ‘upgrades’ which you can take advantage of if you choose to do so.
- Bumble
What sets Bumble apart from other dating apps is that it is a requirement for females to start the conversations first. Hence, it prevents males you accidentally swiped right to start a conversation with you in app such as Badoo. As usual Facebook is the way to sign in as it can gather your relevant information such as your name, age, occupation and so on.
In conclusion, I hope you enjoy this article and will try some of it. If you have tried some, do comment below what is your opinion and if you would like to share some other apps kindly do so.
